Tendonitis

Effective Tendonitis Treatment for Lasting Relief

Tendonitis is an acute inflammatory condition of a tendon where a specific injury or chronic overuse of a tendon results in an inflammatory condition of the tendon without significant microscopic damage.  If left untreated, tendonitis can progress to tendinosis.  Tendinosis is a chronic condition of damaged tissue that results in disorganized tendon fibers that can become thickened or scarred which can further cause pain and dysfunction.  The underlying cause of tendonitis is inflammation, but the underlying cause of tendinosis is tissue and fiber degeneration.  Therefore, it is important to seek treatment as soon as the tendonitis symptoms appear before the progress to further tissue damage and degeneration.

Physical therapy treatments including dry needling, cupping, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and other manual therapy techniques can significantly improve many tendonitis and tendinosis conditions including, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, medial epicondylitis (Golfer’s elbow), lateral epicondylitis (Tennis elbow), Biceps and Rotator Cuff tendinitis and De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis.
